Came here for Tucson's restaurant week because I've been wanting to try, so why not get a 3 course meal for $35 and I am SO HAPPY I did. Oh my gosh. Reserved a table for 6 via Yelp and called to tell them we would like to be seated somewhere so we could hear each other and be a little more private. There is a space towards the back of the restaurant that was PERFECT for us. The table was set so nice. Our server, Aubrey, came to our table immediately and we were greeted with chips and salsas. Our server had to be one of the best I've ever had. Not only was he so helpful but you could tell he truly enjoyed the food & drinks. He described everything so well and really sold us on add ins and fun cocktails based on his enthusiasm for the quality and taste. He did not lie either, the food was excellent. The carne asada was a huge portion and cooked to perfection. I'm still dreaming of it today. If you go with a large group, I highly recommend their version of a charcuterie board. The most insane and imaginative one I've ever been served, and I order charcuterie boards everywhere I go. Our flan was delicious too. Overall, our experience was one of the best I've had at a restaurant, and definitely mirrors the experiences I've had at other Charro restaurants. They are doing everything right and coming up with such great concepts that still have a Mexican inspired flair. Will go back again for a nice date night or if I want to impress people from out of town. My only complaint is that it seemed very warm in the restaurant. Turn the AC up please, it's summer in AZ.
Bottomline: Charro Steak on point and all of us want more Aubrey! -

Good food, great service! We loved dinner, unfortunately between the hard surfaces in the restaurant and the live music with an amp pointing into the dining area we could not hear our friends. The live music was a great touch and we enjoyed it but sound is an issue if you want to have a nice meal.
Don't come here if you want to have dinner and conversation - it's a great place if you want to spend time on your cell phone or sit in silence but if there are more than 2 people it's an impossible place to have a conversation. -

Party of four with reservations. All went well upon arrival on a Friday night at rush. Server was solid, informative and knowledgeable. Food came out quickly. I ordered the Charro Burger, medium rare. It arrived that way. Others ordered the variety of steaks. The ribeye was tough. The carne asada steak was good but the portion was small. My 110 lb. niece vanquished it in under 5 minutes. My burger and fries were lukewarm. The added bleu cheese was a smear of less than an oz. Instead of a brioche bun, the burger had a wrinkled white bread thing from a bag. It was untoasted. Burger came with 5-8 crinkle cut pickles, non-descript at best. The presentation was poor and the taste was lamely sour. Prices were high for product delivered. Charro beans were either over-cooked or just a mess.
Overall, I gave it 2 stars for the tinny chairs, loud ambience, lukewarm burger and fries and tough ribeye. My expectations were for more robust tastes, better food prep and better ambience instead of cheap tables and chairs and a dirty floor. El Charro has a strong reputation but for the price, Charro Steak was a disappointing experience. -

Visiting Tucson for the day and night. We were trying to figure out where to eat dinner. Wanted a place with a steak. Drove by several other places but none looked like what we wanted. We stumbled upon Charro and I am glad we did located in downtown Tucson. Parked in public parking lot right by it. By the way get the app for park mobile. I had installed it in Phoenix with our car info and credit card info and just had to put in the parking lot we were in and how long we wanted to park and we were good to go. We were greeted immediately at the restaurant and sat promply. Koi was our server. He did a great job taking care of us. We ordered a bottle of Velvet Devil wine. Good tasting. Koi told us the evening specials and recommended several sides. Entrees come with 2 tortillas and beans. We got for our sides the potatoes and corn. Both suggested by Koi. Both were so delicious. For our entrees I got the salmon and hubby got the 7 ounce filet. Both were cooked to perfection and the sides were amazing. Our entrees came quickly after we ordered and were hot. The manager stopped by to check on us. Always a nice touch. Next door to them is Charro Del Rey a seafood place. When in the area we will be back

Came here for dinner with my folks after getting off a plane, wasn't extremely hungry. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink first, the bartender was friendly and let me sample the Dillinger IPA (very good).
We then got a table in the dining area. My dad ordered the special, which was a porterhouse topped with a Tajín butter. Probably one of the best, and perfectly Charred, steaks I'd ever tasted. Almost made me think twice about getting the grilled romaine wedge salad. However, the salad was just right, with fried pork belly (Chicarrón), pickled(?) onions, heirloom tomatoes and bleu cheese dressing, I could see this being a great entree salad by adding steak or chicken. We also split an order of the esquites con crema (charred corn, crema) and I could've eaten the whole thing.
The atmosphere definitely has a southwest steakhouse feel, which is very rustic, charming, nice but not stuffy or formal, maybe call it "a step up from a saloon."
Our server was great and she knew the menu and was very attentive. Will have to try their seafood restaurant next door, Charro del Rey. The Charro folks know their food!
